Breaking a short two game skid, the Cottey Comets posted their first ever American Midwest Conference basketball win Saturday with a 64-50 win over the Central Baptist College Mustangs at the Hinkhouse Center.

Olivia Pruitt led a trio of Comets in double figures with 15 points getting most of her production from the free throw line where the sophomore guard went 11 of 12. Dally Coulter picke up 11 points while Nicole Hagerman came off the bench to add 10. Sara Montesdeoca controlled the boards with 11 rebounds.

Thanks to a 16-8 advantage in the second quarter, Cottey enjoyed a 35-21 lead at halftime and controlled the game the rest of the way.

The Comets enjoyed a good shooting day hitting 47 percent from the field and was 22 of 27 from the free throw line for just under 82 percent as they upped their record to 4-2 and 1-1 in AMC play.

Central Baptist, led by Caroline Citty's 13 points, fell to 2-2 and 0-2 in conference play. The Mustangs hits just 27 percent of their shots including a lowly 3 of 20 from the three point line.

Cottey will return to action after Thanksgiving with a trip to Little Rock, AR Saturday to play the Philander Smith Panthers in a non-conference contest.
