NEVADA LOOKS FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE TRAVELING TO MT. VERNON FRIDAY

Date: September 23, 2022, 11:17 am

Coming off their first loss of the season, the Nevada Tigers are looking for a bounce back performance Friday night.

The 3-1 Tigers will play their final Big 8 Conference crossover football game of the season when they travel to Mt. Vernon to take on the 3-1 Mountaineers.

Nevada fell 27-26 last Friday at McDonald County and fell from #3 to #8 in this week's Class 4 state media rankings. The Tigers gave up 280 yards passing to the Mustangs in Anderson and head coach Wes Beachler says they have stressed playing a complete game this week.

Mt. Vernon went 1-10 last year but the Mountaineers were off to a 3-0 start this season, including a week one win over McDonald County, before stumbling last week in a 26-8 loss to Logan-Rogersville.

The Tigers are 0-3 against Mt. Vernon since rejoining the Big 8 but have not played the Mountaineers since 2019.

Game time is 7:00 p.m. with coverage starting at 6:20 p.m. on 99.9 FM, AM 1240, KNEM, the KNEM-AM audio stream and on nevadamotv.com.
