The Nevada Lady Tiger softball team looked like they were on their way to a shortened run rule victory Thursday afternoon but then found themselves having tohold off the Marshfield Lady Jays for a 10-9 Big 8 Conference win.

Nevada came out fast with three runs in the top of the first on a bases loaded triple by Kara Phillips and owned a 10-1 lead going to the bottom of the fourth. From that point on, the Lady Tigers found themselves just holding on as Marshfield scored four runs in the fifth to make it 10-5 and then plated four tallies in the bottom of the seventh before their rally came up a run short.

Nevada pounded out 16 hits led by Kirstin Buck with three hits including a double while five other players had two hits each. Ella Heathman picked up a two run home run in the third inning.

Peyton Eaton earned the win in the circle for the Lady Tigers giving up ten runs on nine hits but only five of the runs were earned with Nevada commiting five errors.

The win puts Nevada at 16-7 and 5-0 in Big 8 play while Marshfield fell to 10-14. The Lady Tigers return to action Monday for their "Senior Night" contest against Carthage at Bushwhacker Field.
