Kris Bubic recorded his fourth straight no-decision in a quality start. The lefthander allowed two runs on four hits. Taylor Clarke got the win despite giving up a one run lead in the top of the seventh.
Former Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer made his Boston debut after being traded this week by the San Diego Padres. It was Hosmer's first game back at Kauffman since his final game as a Royal in 2017. Hosmer was 0 for 3 with a walk but he appreciated the cheers he received from Royals fans.
Kansas City and Boston continue their series Friday night at 7:10 p.m.
