VACANT CORNER ON NEVADA SQUARE TARGETED FOR REVITILIZATION EFFORT

An effort is underway for a central business district revitilization in Nevada that would effect the square and surrounding blocks.One of the areas of concern is the vacant corner on the southeast corner of the square after a building collapse in December of 2020. That vacant lot is now owned by the City of Nevada and Vernon County Economic Development Director Ben Vickers says there's more work to do on the property before proceeding.

During a recent meeting of downtown business owners and operators, drawings were shown of a proposed pavilion that could be put into the space. Vickers says that and other ideas are things that could be done.
Additional meetings will be scheduled in the future as different funding possibilities are discussed as well as additional projects.
