A St. Clair County man was arrested Friday evening after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident that sent a toddler to the hospital.

The Missouri Highway Patrols says the incident occured just after 6:30 p.m. Friday evening on Coon Creek St. in Collins. A 2013 Chevrolet Cruze driven by 49 year old Jerry Nance of Collins was westbound when he struck a three year old female on a tricycle in the roadway. The patrol says Nance then left the scene of the accident.

The toddler, who was not identified due to her age, was flown to Cox South Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries.

Nance was arrested on felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident that caused physical injury and a felony DWI as an aggravated offender. Nance was also charged with not having a required ignition interlock. He was taken to the St. Clair County Jail in Osceola and later released.
