CORONAVIRUS VACCINE WILL SOON BE AVAILABLE TO MORE VERNON COUNTY CHILDREN

Date: June 23, 2022, 7:30 pm

Missouri parents will have the chance soon to get their children younger than 5 years old vaccinated against the coronavirus. The rollout for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines is underway and could be headed to a Missouri healthcare site near you soon. Dr. Margaret Day, the vaccine co-chair at MU Health Care in Columbia, says she still sees benefits for kids to get vaccinated if they have already had the virus.

She says the Moderna vaccine seems to have higher incidents of reaction. Irritability, fever, drowsiness, fatigue and pain at the injection site are the most common reactions in both shots.

For parents in the Nevada area, the Vernon County Health Department will be hosting a Pfizer vaccine clinc for children under 5 years old. Registration can be made by calling 417-667-7418. A date for the clinic has not yet been determined.
