Obituaries

Shirley Mae Cheek, of Lockwood, passed away Monday, November 22, at her home. She was 78. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Konantz Wardern Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Bethlehem Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations to assist with the funeral expenses.

Daren Lee Maynard, of Nevada, passed away Sunday, November 21, at his home. He was 49. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a private family service will be held.

Linda Kay (Ogle) Carter, Harwood, MO, passed away Tuesday, November 23, at Citizens Memorial Hospital, Bolivar. She was 62. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and no services are planned.

Nancy A. Sorenson, Liberal, passed away Tuesday, November 23. She was 80. A service is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturdaty, November 27, at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, with burial to follow in the Liberal City Cemetery.

Larry Curtice Bradley, Nevada, Mo., passed away Monday, November 22, in St. Louis. The former director of the Nevada Library and IT supervisor for the State of Misouri was 71. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and rosary's to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, at the funeral home with visitation to follow through 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nevada, with burial to follow in Nevada's Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials either to the Rotary Foundation, Parkinson's Disease Resarch at Washington University, St. Louis or the DAR's Education Advancement for Missouri Junior Members Fund are suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

William Lee McNeil, Bronaugh, passed away Monday, November 22, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. The 1968 graduate of Bronaugh High School and former over-the-road truck driver was 73. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a graveside service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, in Bronaugh's Worsley Cemetery with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. The family receives friends between two and four o'clock Sunday afternoon, November 28, at Ferry Funeral Home and memorials to a fund for the family are suggested.

Ona Gail Wysong, of Nevada, passed away Sunday, November 21, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada at the age of 90. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Beach. Burial is to  follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family receives friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, at the funeral home. Memorials to Alpha Pointe (for the visually impaired) are suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Evelyn (White) Wisdom Purdy, Foster, Mo., passed away Wednesday, November 24, at her home. She was 91. Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler, with burial to follow in the State Line Cemetery, Trading Post, Ks. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, at the funeral home and memorials to the American Cancer Society fpr Pediatric Research are suggested and can be made in care of the funeral home.

Mary Louise Kuhn, Lamar, passed away Saturday, November 13, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. The former English and physical education teacher was 83. A memorial service is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 26, at the Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar. Memorials either to the Barton County Library, the Barton County Humane Society or the St. Joseph Indian School are suggested.

Buster Buddy Blackburn, of El Dorado Springs, passed away Saturday, November 20, at the age of 89. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Charles Carson, of El Dorado Springs, passed away Sunday, November 21, at the age of 92. Funeral services were held at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home Wednesday, November 24, at 2:00 p.m. and burial followed in the Clintonville Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, November 23, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

David Ray Bogart. of Sheldon, passed away Sunday, November 21, at his home. The retired Union Carpenter was 66. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and no services are planned. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Glenda May Carlini, Nevada, passed away Friday, November 19, at her home. The 1947 graduate of Nevada High School and former employee at Nelly Don as well as Nevada R-5 School District food services was 92. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, in Newton Burial Park with Mark Mitchell and Terry Mosher officiating. Memorials to the Calvary Baptist Church, Nevada, were suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Jack Braxton Hartline, Nevada, passed away Friday, November 19, at the Nevada Medicalodge. The 1955 graduate of Schell City High School and retired service station owner/operator and car salesman was 84. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, at Ferry Funeral Home with Chaplain Kenny Batson officiating. The family received friends Monday evening, November 22, at the funeral home and memorials to Vernon County Cancer Relief were suggested.

Gayle Leigh (Rose) Rhodes, Nevada, passed away Monday, November 15, at her home. The 1970 Nevada High School graduate was 69. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a private service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Gayle's family and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Linda Gayle Coonrod, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, November 16, at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center in Nevada. The retired Bank of America employee was 78. Arrangements were under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a service was held at  10:00 a.m. Monday, November 22, at the First Baptist Church, Nevada, and burial followed in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Memorials to the First Baptist Church were suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Shirley Ann Wymore, of Nevada, passed away Monday, November 15. She was 81. Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, at Ferry Funeral Home and a committal service followed in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Jason Lee Brumfield, of Nevada, passed away Tuesday, November 16, at St. Lukes Hospital, Kansas City, MO at the age of 47. Memorial services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, at Ferry Funeral Home.

Ellen Lee May-Lawson, of Nevada, passed away Sunday, November 14, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center. The 1946 graduate of Bronaugh High School was 94. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and no public services are planned although a private committal is to be scheduled in the in Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Walker, MO.

Mary Dolores Wilson, of Nevada, passed away Monday, November 15, at the Barone Care Center, Nevada. The Nevada native and former owner of Mary's Fabrics on the square was 86. A graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 18, in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Pittsburg, KS. The family received friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Ferry Funeral Home. Memorials either to the NRMC Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice were suggested and can be made on care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Ronald Lee Wadel, of Richards, passed away Monday, November 15, at KU Medical Center. The retired 3M employee was 72. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 19, at the Rinehart Christian Church in rural Vernon County and burial followed in the East Liberty Cemetery, Stotesbury, MO. The family received friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening, November 18, at Ferry Funeral Home. Memorials to the Rinehart Christian Church were suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Edna Amos, Nevada, passed away Saturday, November 13, at her home. The California native and former resident of Butler was 75. Arrangements are under direction of the Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler, and a graveside service was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Butler. 

Thelma Wilene (Scholes) Shutters-Plain, of Nevada, passed away Sunday, November 14, at the age of 76. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, at the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City, and burial followed in Schell City's Green Cemetery. Visitation preceded Wednesday's service.

Larry Ray McCoy, Sr., Rich Hill, passed away Friday, November 12. The 1960 graduate of Nevada High School and U.S. Army veteran was 79. Arrangements are under direction of the Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill.

Judith Lee Leonard, Butler, passed away Friday, November 19, at the Butler Medicalodge. The Pleasanton, Ks. native was 88. A memorial visitation is planned between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 26, at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler. Memorials to St. Joseph's Indian School are suggested.

Arthur Leason, Norwell, Ma., passed away Saturday, November 6, at his home. The Nevada High School and Missouri University graduate was 90. Arrangements were under direction of the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, Norwell, Ma., and memorials either to the NVNA Hospice of the Salvation Army were suggested.

Jeremy Alan Marquette, of Sheldon, passed away Wednesday, November 3, at the age of 42. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Lamar. A visitation was held Friday morning at Ferry Funeral Home.

Margaret (Swearingen) Mordy, Grove, Ok. passed away Tuesday, November 2, after a battle with cancer. The Nevada, Mo. native was 75. Arrangements are under direction of Nichols Stephens Funeral and Cremation Services, Grove, Ok., and a private burial is to be scheduled later in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Independence, Ks. Memorials either to the Epiphany Episcopal Church or the Independence, Ks. Historical Museum are suggested.

Catherine "Katy" Hinkle, formerly Nevada, passed away Wednesday, October 27, at her home in Austin, Texas. The PEO member and retired attorney was 92. A memorial service at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Nevada is to be scheduled later with arrangements under direction of Ferry Funeral Home. Memorials either to the All Saints Episcopal Church of the Alano Club of Nevada are suggested.
