Obituaries

James Franklin Dean, Nevada, passed away Thursday, April 2, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. The 1947 graduate of Metz High School was 91. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a private graveside service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery near Milo.

Lois Nadean (Crockett) Wagoner passed away Friday, April 3, at Good Shepherd Community Care, Lockwood, Mo. The Golden City High School graduate was 94. Arrangements are under direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and a private graveside service is to be held in the Kistler Cemetery, Southeast of Golden City. Memorials to the Kistler Cemetery are suggested.

William Perry Silvers, Lamar, passed away Saturday, April 4, at Cox-Barton County Hospital, Lamar. He was 67. Arrangements are under direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and no services are planned. Memorials to a fund for the family are suggested and can be made in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

Pauline Vivian (Caruthers) Cox passed away Friday, April 3, at the Appleton City Manor. The Walker, Mo. native was 101. A memorial service is to be scheduled later at the Hill and Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, with burial to follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Mound City, Ks. Memorials to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Appleton City, are suggested and can be made in care of the Hill and Son Funeral Home.

Mary Thomas, Lamar, passed away Monday, April 6, at St. Luke's Nursing Home. She was 80. Arrangements are under direction of the Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar.

Kenneth Cooper, El Dorado Springs, passed away Friday, April 3. The retired telephone lineman was 73. Arrangements are under direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.

Mildred Josephine Moore, El Dorado Springs, passed away Monday, April 6, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital. The Roscoe, Mo. native was 92. Arrangements are under direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, and a graveside service is planned at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 10, in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery.

George E. Colgin, Fort Scott, passed away Saturday, April 4, at the Fort Scott Medicalodge. The retired Fort Scott Police Officer was 72. Arrangements are under direction of the Cheney-Witt Chapel, Fort Scott, and a private committal is to be scheduled later in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Northeast of Fort Scott. Memorials to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society are suggested and can be made in care of the Cheney-Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott.

Vesta Koehn passed away Thursday, April 2, at the Pine Village in Moundridge, Ks. The native of the Fredonia, Ks. area was 89.Arrangements were under direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler, and a private graveside service was held at three o'clock Sunday afternoon, April 5, in the Bethany Mennonite Cemetery at Rich Hill. Memorials to the benevolent fund of the Bethany Mennonite Church, Rich Hill, are suggested and can be made in care of Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel.

Ernest Wayne Owen, Lamar, passed away Wednesday, April 1st, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Lamar. The 1956 graduate of Lamar High School was 81. Arrangements are under direction of Daniel Funeral Home and a private burial is planned in Memory Gardens Cemetery. A public memorial service and visitation are to be scheduled later.

Melva Lea Keithley, Nevada, passed away Saturday, March 28, at her home. The 1958 graduate of Nevada High School was 79. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a memorial service is to be scheduled later. Memorials to Vernon County Cancer Relief are suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Ronald Jay. Besendorfer passed away Wednesday, March 25, as the result of a motorcycle accident in Louisiana. The former Nevada R-5 School District educator was 52. Arrangements are under direction of the Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and a memorial service is to be scheduled later. Memorials to Alzheimer's research are suggested and can be made in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

Susan Dale Couch, Gerald, Mo. and formerly Bronaugh, passed away Monday, March 23. The 1983 gradiate of Nevada High School was 53. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a graveside service in Bronaugh's Worsley Cemetery is to be scheduled later. Memorials to the Worsley Cemetery are suggested.

Daniel Jay Cooper, Nevada, passed away Friday, March 20, at his home. The 1971 graduate of Nevada High School and retired manager at the Dayco Belt Manufacturing plant in Fort Scott was 66. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and services are to be scheduled later at the Riverside Cowboy Church.

Max Harvey Hudson, Milo, passed away Friday, March 20, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. He was 84. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and service plans are to be announced later. Memorials to the ALS Foundation are suggested and can be made in care of the funeral home.

Donna LaVaughn (Spangler) Lear passed away Thursday, March 26, at her home near Washington, D.C. at the age of 77.A memorial service is to be scheduled later with a committal planned in the Sheldon, Mo. Cemetery.
