Obituaries

Virginia Elizabeth (Saathoff) Fletchall, Nevada, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 20, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. She was 95. Services are planned at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastors Bill Cox and Hubert Fox officiating. A private burial is scheduled in Newton Burial Park. Visitation is scheduled between ten and eleven o'clock Saturday morning, January 25, at Ferry Funeral Home. Memorials to the Backpacks of Love program at the First Baptist Church in Nevada are suggested.

Lola Marie Stoner, Nevada and formerly Rich Hill, passed away Monday, January 20, at her home. She was 82. Services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, at Heuser Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Green Lawn Cemetery at Rich Hill. Visitation is planned between ten and eleven o'clock Thursday morning, January 23, at the funeral home. Memorials to Children's Mercy Hospital are suggested and can be made in care of Heuser Funeral Home.

Donald Keith Parker, Hume, passed away Wednesday, January 22, at his home. He was 74. Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler, with burial to follow in the Independence Cemetery at Hume. Memorials either to the Parkinson's Association or the Diabetes Foundation are suggested and can be made in care of Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel.

Mary Ann (Howerton) Wise passed away Thursday, January 2, at Ontario, California. The 1960 graduate of El Dorado Springs High School was 77. Services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with burial to follow in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery. Visitation is planned between six and seven o'clock Friday evening, January 24, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Linda G. Lumley passed away Thursday, January 16, at the age of 70. Services are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, at the Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Clintonville Cemetery. Visitation is planned between six and seven o'clock Wednesday evening, January 22, at the funeral home. Memorials to a fund for the family are suggested.

Doris D. (Johnson) Whitson, Liberal, passed away Friday, January 17, at the Fort Scott Medicalodge. The retired dietary department employee at the Liberal School was 93. Arrangements are under direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home and visitation is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, at the Verdella Freewill Baptist Church with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial is planned in the Barton City Cemetery. Memorials to the Verdella Freewill Baptist Church are suggested and can be made in care of the Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar.

Dorothy F. Roberts, Lamar, passed away Tuesday, January 14, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation. The former teacher and the first juvenile officer in Missouri's 28th judicial circuit was 98. A memorial service is scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, with visitation to follow between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m. Memorials either to the Barton County Library, the Barton County Senior Center, Nathan's Place or the charity of the donor's choice are suggested.

Leota Vyrl Bruce, Blue Bell, Pa. and formerly Ottawa, Ks., passed away Friday, December 13, 2019. The graduate of Hume, Mo. High School and Fort Scott Junior College was 104. A memorial service is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, at the Bruce Fuineral Home, Gardner, Ks., and burial is to be scheduled later in the Prescott, Ks. Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled between one and two o'clock Saturday afternoon at the funeral home in Gardner, Ks. Memorials either to the Fort Scott Community College Endowment or the American Red Cross of Kansas, Topeka, Ks., are suggested.

Marjorie Anne (Hill) Goss passed away Friday, December 27, at Quail Run in Mennonite Village, Albany, Oregon. The former English Department faculty member at Cottey College in Nevada was 90. Arrangements were under direction of the DemossDurdan Funeral Home, Corvallis, Oregon, and memorials either to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship or Planned Parenthood were suggested.

Dr. Mary Jo Litten, Nevada, passed away Sunday, December 8, at the Barone Care Center. She was 72. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a memorial service is to be scheduled next Spring at the United Methodist Church, Nevada. Memorials either to Cure Alzheimer's, the Neighbors Center in Nevada or the Robert G. and I. Louise Lasley Memorial Scholarship Fund at Pittsburg State University are suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
