Obituaries

Steven Eddie Ferguson, Joplin, passed away Monday, September 21, at his home. The Appleton City native was 56. Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, at Ferry Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Roscoe, Mo. Cemetery in St. Clair County.

Wesley "Jim" Gilpin passed away Sunday, September 20, at the age of 92. Arrangements are under direction of the Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, and a graveside service is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery.

Laverne "Robert" Dorman, Nevada, passed away Thursday, September 17, at his home. The New York native who had lived in Nevada since 2009 was 81. Services were held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, at Ferry Funeral Home followed by a "Celebration of Life" dinner at the Life Church, 421 Centennial Boulevard, Nevada. Memorials to Heartland Hospice were suggested.

Tanner Chadwick Duncan, Nevada, passed away Thursday, September 17. He was 27. Arrangements were under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, at the First Baptist Church, Nevada, with Pastor Mark Mitchell officiating. Burial followed in the Berea Cemetery at Ketterman. Memorials to the Christmas Basket Fund at the Nevada Elks Lodge were suggested.

Marie Elayna Cantell, Nevada, passed away Wednesday, September 16th, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield. The former resident of Blue Mound, Ks. was 62. Services were scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 23rd, at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. Burial's planned in the Blue Mound Cemetery near Mound City, Ks. Memorials to a fund for the family were suggested.

Iola Pauline (Kreissler) Rapp passed away Sunday, September 20, at St. Luke's Rehab Center, Overland Park, Ks. The 1956 graduate of Appleton City High School was 82. Services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 24, at the Hill and Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, with Pastor Jerry Smith officiating. Visitation is planned between ten and eleven o'clock Thursday morning at the funeral home. Memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton City, are suggested.

Sharon Kay Lucas, Lamar, passed away Friday, September 18, at her home. The Lamar School custodian was 61. Services are planned at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, at the Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Anna Edna Cemetery at Jerico Springs, Mo. Memorials to a fund for the family are suggested.

Kay (Abbiatti) Singer, Golden City, passed away Friday, September 18. The administrative secretary was 84. Arrangements are under direction of Daniel Funeral Home and a memorial service and concert are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, at the family farm -- Northeast of Golden City. Memorials to the Kay Singer Music Scholarship at Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, are suggested and can be made in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

Nelson Earl Webb, Golden City, passed away Thursday, September 17, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. The Lamar native and manager at Prairie Mountain Screening in Lockwod was 63. Arrangements were under direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and a private service was scheduled.

Juanita Smith, formerly of Vernon County, passed away Wednesday, September 16th, at Northland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kansas City. The former substitute teacher at the Bronaugh School was 97. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Bunch officiating. Burial was planned in the Worsley Cemetery near Bronauigh. Memorials either to the Worsley Cemetery or the Heritage Baptist Church were suggested.

Charles Vincent "Sonny" Wehar, Hume, passed away Tuesday, September 15, at his home. Arrangements were under direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler, and services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20, at the Grace Fellowship Church, Worland, Mo., and burial followed in the Woodfin Cemetery, Foster, Mo. Memorials either to the Grace Fellowship Church or the Woodfin Cemetery are suggested and can be made in care of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel.

Ronald "Melvin" Stanley, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, September 15, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. The drummer/guitarist was 58. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, at Ferry Funeral Home and burial followed in Newton Burial Park. Memorials to a fund for his family were suggestred and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

James Roy Beckman, El Dorado Springs, passed away Wednesday, September 16, as the result of a two-vehicle collision. He was 43. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at the Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home and burial followed in the Green Mound Cemetery at Harwood, Mo.

Jack Vernon Edmiston passed away Tuesday, September 8, at Charlotte, N.C. The former Nevada businessman and Chamber-of-Commerce president was 87. A private committal was to be scheduled in Nevada's Deepwood Cemetery under direction of Ferry Funeral Home. Friends were allowed to call at the funeral home through Tuesday, September 22, which would have been his 88th birthday. Memorials either to the Cottey College Student Center or the Deepwood Cemetery Association were suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

John Myron West, Nevada, passed away Sunday, September 13, at his home. The Air Force veteran and former 3M employee was 89. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Platt officiating. Burial was planned in the Moore Cemetery. Memorials to the First Christian Church in Nevada were suggested.

Linda Sue Zaerr, Lamar, passed away Tuesday, September 15, at Cox Barton County Hospital. The retired clerk at Lamar's City Hall was 71. Arrangements were under direction of Daniel Funeral Home and a graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, in Lamar's Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials to the Good Samaritan Shop were suggested and can be made in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

Raymond Tyler Maxwell Harper, Fort Scott, Ks., passed away Sunday evening, September 13. He was 19. Arrangements were under direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, Fort Scott, and a graveside service was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, in Fort Scott's Centerville Cemetery.
