Obituaries

Linda Joyce LaDue, Nevada, passed away Thursday, February 25, at her home. The retired US Bank employee was 81. Services are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 4, at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Mosher and Chaplain Kenny Batson officiating. Burial is planed in the Moore Cemetery. The family receives friends between five and seven o'clock Wednesday evening, March 3, at the funeral home. Memorials either to the Heartland Hospice or the Calvary Baptist Church, Nevada, are suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Betty Madison, Liberal, passed away Saturday, February 27, at her home. She was 73. Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar. The family receives friends between six and seven o'clock Tuesday evening, March 2, at Daniel Funeral Home.

Ruby Barrow, Strafford, Mo. and formerly Lamar, passed away Saturday, February 27. The retired O'Sullivan Industries employee was 86. Arrangements are under direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and a graveside service is scheduled at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon, March 2, in Lamar's Lake Cemetery.

David Lee Freer, Fort Scott, passed away Thursday, February 25, at the age of 80. Cremation arrangements are under direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Mo., and a private committal is planned in the Evergreen Cemetery at Fort Scott. A celebration of his life is to be scheduled later.

James Allan Klein, rural Walker, passed away Friday, February 5, at his home. He was 69. Arrangements were under direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and a memorial service is planned at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nevada, with Father Peter Savidge officiating.

Neal Lee Smith, Liberal, passed away Thursday, February 25, at his home. The insurance agent and farmer was 65. Arrangements are under direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and a graveside service is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 1, in the Iantha Cemetery. The family received friends between two and four o'clock Sunday afternoon, February 28, at Daniel Funeral Home. Memorials to the Shriner's Hospital for Children were suggested and can be made in care of the funeral home.

William (Bill) Edward Mische, Grandview, passed away Monday, February 22. The 1969 Nevada High School graduate was 70.  Memorial services -- with Military Honors -- were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27th, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with a private interment was to follow.

Maxine Newlon, Muskogee, Ok. and formerly Nevada, Mo., passed away Sunday, February 21. The former professor of music and orchestra at Cottey College, Nevada, was 97. Arrangements were under direction of the Cornerstorn Funeral Home, Muskogee, and a celebration of her life was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, in the Greenhill Cemetery Pavilion at Muskogee with Pastor Cody Robinson officiating.

Earl L. Johnson Jr., Nevada, passed away Saturday, February 20, at the age of 79. A service  was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, at Ferry Funeral Home with the Reverend Ray Adams officiating and burial followed in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dederick. Memorials to the ElDorado Christion School were suggested and can be made in care of Fery Funeral Home..

Walter Cochran, Nevada, passed away Sunday, February 21, at his home. The former assistant principal at Nevada High School was 76. A service was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 26, at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Platt officiating. A committal followed -- at 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 26 -- in the Park Cemetery at Carthage. Memorials to a Classroom Grants Fund of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association were suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home..

Donald Douglas "Donnie" Gast, Nevada, passed away Sunday, February 21. The 1973 graduate of Nevada High School was 65. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. Burial followed in the Deerfield Cemetery. Visitation was held at ten o'clock Thursday morning, February 25, at Ferry Funeral Home.

Amos M. Hinkle, Bronaugh, passed away Friday, February 19 at his home. The construction company owner was 91. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and burial followed in the Shiloh Cemetery in Barton County. Memorials either to the Vernon County Youth Fair or the Bronaugh R-7 School Scholarship fund were suggested.

Leila Ellen Giger, Lamar, passed away Friday, February 19, at the age of 87. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday,, February 24, at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar and burial followed in the Sheldon, Mo. Cemetery. Visitation was held between ten and eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, February 24, at the funeral Home. Memorials to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society were suggested.

Lois Jean Stacy, Lamar, passed away Thursday, February 18. The former cook at the Blue Top Cafe was 68. Arrangements are under direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home and a private service is to be scheduled later. Visitation was held Sunday, February 22, at the funeral home, 1301 Gulf Street, Lamar.

Timothy Stephan Rosser, formerly Nevada, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021. The 1980 Nevada High School graduate was 59. A private service is planned and memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project are suggested.

Anthony Eugene "Tony" Wicks, Nevada, passed away Friday, February 12, at his home. The Henderson, Ky. native was 62. Arrangements are under direction of the Cheney-Witt Chapel, Fort Scott, and a private graveside service is to be scheduled later in the Prescott, Ks. Cemetery. Memorials either to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association are suggested.

Marcia Murphy, Rich Hill, passed away Tuesday, February 16, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Kansas City. She was 61. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, at the Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler, and burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Visitation was held between six and eight o'clock Monday evening, February 22, at the funeral home and memorials to a fund for the family were suggested.

Kenneth Wayne Carnahan, Lamar and formerly El Dorado Springs, passed away Wednesday, February 17. The owner of New Beginnings by Design consignment shop was 64. Arrangements were under direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar, and a memorial service was held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, at the Living Word Church, Lamar. Memorials to the church were suggested.

Karen Sue Hardy, Liberal, has passed away at her home. She was 73. A service was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and burial followed in the Oakton Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday evening, February 22, at Daniel Funeral Home.

Charles Henke, Jr. Concordia, Mo., passed away February 3. He taught and coached basketball in Nevada from 1966 to 1970. Arrangeents were under direction of the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Concordia, Mo., and a celebration of his life is planned May 30.
