Obituaries

Norman LeRoy Cochran, Leawood, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 29. The native of Milo, Mo. and graduate of Nevada High School was 94. Arrangements are under direction of the Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home & Cemetery, Kansas City, and a celebration of his life is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at the Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, Overland Park, Ks., with a reception to follow. Burial is scheduled at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City.

Alice Ruth Waring, 76, of Golden City, MO passed away Thursday, June 30 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6 at the Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar. Interment will take place in the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, MO.

Joan Baslee, 68, of Lamar, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 28. Visitation will be held Friday, July 1 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Konantz-Warden Funeral home. Furneral services will be held Saturday, July 2, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lamar Family Ministries.

Lee Anne Stukesbary, 49, Nevada, MO passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Nevada, A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Dederick Christian Church, Dederick, Mo with Rev. Jared Kouba officiating. Full obituary may be viewed at www.ferryfuneralhome.com.

Marie A. Kerby, of Joplin, passed away Wednesday, June 29. The former resident of the Mulberry, Ks./Mindenmines, Mo. area was 80. Arrangements are under direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar, and a graveside service is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, in the Rosebank Cemetery, Mulberry, Ks.

Samuel A. Shade, Belton, Mo., passed away Wednesday, June 19. The native of El Dorado Springs was 73. Arrangements were under direction of the McGilley & George Funeral Home, Kansas City, and a memorial service is scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at the New Horizons Church of the Nazarene, Belton. Memorials to the Church of the Nazarene Missions International, in care of the New Horizons Church of the Nazarene, aer suggested.

Elizabeth Rose (Chilton) Dozier, Nevada, passed away Friday, June 24, in Joplin at the age of 68. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and a private service is to be scheduled later.

LaVon Lena (Braker) Forste passed away Friday, June 24. The native of Lamar and 1958 graduate of Jasper, Mo. High School was 75. A memorial service is scheduled between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, Kansas City.

Shirley Ann (Frankenfield) Hayslett, Roscoe, Mo., passed away, Saturday, June 25, at her home. The Jerico Springs, Mo. native was 74. Arrangements are under direction of the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home in Osceola and a memorial service is to be scheduled later.

Susan Kay Jones, Rich Hill, passed away Wednesday, June 22, at Brezy Meadows in Butler at the age of 61. Arrangements are under direction of the Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler, and a private memorial service is to be scheduled later. Memorials either to the Hume Baptist Church or to a fund for the family are suggested.

Gary Douglas Hall, Harrisonville, Mo., passed away Monday, June 20. The Lamar native and graduate of Nevada High School was 76. Arrangements are under direction of the Memorial Funeral Home and a celebration of his life is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at the funeral home. The family receives friends between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, and the funeral home and burial is scheduled Sunday, July 3, at Neosho, Mo. Memorials to Camp Hickory Hills at Columbia,, Mo. are suggested.

Samuel Howard Simmons, Jr., Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, June 17, at the Centennial Medical Center in Frisco, Texas. The Pittsbrug State University graduate and former Nevada High School teacher was 64. A memorial service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at the Derfelt Funeral Home in Galena, Kansas with visitation to follow. Memorials either to the Galena Education Foundation or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are suggtested.

Tommy Joe Jaggers, Lamar, passed away Sunday, June 19, at Barton County Memorial Hospital at the age of 66. Arrangements are under direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and a memorial service is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at the funeral Home. Memorials to the American Cancer Society are suggested.

Dale E. Woods, Independence, Mo., passed away Friday, June 10, at the Groves in Independence. The Nevada native was 74. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and no services are scheduled at this time. Memorials to Vernon County Cancer Relief are suggested.

Kathy Evelyn Souders, Harwood, passed away Wednesday, June 8, at her home at the age of 60. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a service is to be scheduled later.

Thelma Arlene McCaslin, formerly Appleton City, Mo., passed away Saturday, June 25, at the home of a daughter in Northglenn, Colorado. She was 96. Her survivors include five daughters, including Linda Smith, Appleton City.
